London: The 44th edition of the World Travel Market (WTM) commenced on Tuesday, bringing together 40,000 travel and tourism professionals from various parts of the globe. This significant event aims to foster business opportunities, explore new markets, and showcase the latest innovations in the travel industry. According to Kuwait News Agency, the three-day event features over 3,500 exhibitors, reflecting a seven percent annual increase. This growth is expected to contribute around USD 259 million to the UK economy. Additionally, agreements and deals worth approximately USD 2.857 billion are anticipated to be signed during the event. First launched in 1980, the World Travel Market provides industry specialists with essential knowledge, tools, and connections, aiming to accelerate development and promote positive change within the sector. A key highlight of the event is the "Ministers' Summit," the largest annual global gathering of tourism ministers, which facilitates direct engagement with future tourism systems. This year's summit, scheduled for Wednesday, will concentrate on the theme of "sustainability." The discussions will explore how travel can support thriving communities, economies, and ecosystems, along with examining the factors driving regenerative tourism.
