427 Kuwaiti Companies Invest Over USD 2 Billion in Turkiye

Kuwait city: Turkish Ambassador to Kuwait Tuba Nur Sonmez announced that there are currently 427 Kuwaiti companies operating in Turkiye, with investments surpassing two billion US dollars. The trade exchange volume between the two countries is projected to reach approximately USD 700 million in 2024.

According to Kuwait News Agency, during a reception organized by the embassy to mark the visit of Ahmet Burak Daglioglu, President of the Turkish Presidency Investment and Finance Office, Ambassador Sonmez highlighted the mutual importance both nations' leaderships place on advancing bilateral relations. These relations gained new momentum following the state visit of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to Turkey in May 2024.

Ambassador Sonmez further elaborated that the Amir's visit to Ankara resulted in the signing of several agreements across various fields such as bilateral trade, the defense industry, and investments. She emphasized that cooperation extends to numerous sectors, indicating a broad scope of collaboration.

She mentioned that the Turkish Embassy in Kuwait has hosted several high-level Turkish officials over the past two years. These visits included figures such as Minister of Trade Omer Bolat and Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Simsek, who engaged with the Kuwaiti business community through meetings and events.

Ambassador Sonmez remarked, "Turkey and Kuwait are partners in all fields, based on a shared history, religious and cultural affinity, shared values and visions, and vibrant business communities, which are the most important pillars upon which we build our bilateral relations." She stressed that the current trade volume and investment figures do not fully capture the depth of the relationship, underscoring the necessity to enhance business sector connections and foster new partnerships.

The Ambassador concluded that her discussions with Burak Daglioglu present an opportunity to unlock shared potential, encouraging the formation of new partnerships and investments geared towards mutual growth.
