Abu Dhabi: The 40th ADIPEC 2024 Exhibition and Conference commenced on Monday, attracting participation from more than 2,200 companies worldwide, with representation from Kuwait by Sheikh Dr. Nimr Al-Sabah. The exhibition is set to explore the role of artificial intelligence in the energy sector, emphasizing contributions from youth, finance, technology sectors, and Global South countries in shaping a sustainable energy future. According to Kuwait News Agency, the event emphasizes that the growing reliance on artificial intelligence will necessitate increased power consumption. Dr. Sultan Al-Jaber, United Arab Emirates Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, highlighted A.I. as a significant innovation capable of accelerating change, enhancing efficiency, and driving low-carbon energy growth. He urged cooperation between technology, energy, and investment sectors to harness economic and social development opportunities presented by Global South countries and the rapid growth of A.I. Dr. Al-Jaber stres sed the need for the energy and A.I. sectors to collaborate to meet A.I.'s energy demands while simultaneously benefiting from its advancements to improve energy systems. He noted the expected global population increase of 1.7 billion by 2050, predominantly in the Global South, which would necessitate the growth and enhancement of energy systems. The event will feature 10 conferences with over 2,200 companies from various energy sectors, including 54 national and international oil companies. Additionally, four specialized industrial zones will focus on carbon reduction, digital transformation, maritime sector, logistics, and A.I. ADIPEC 2024 anticipates hosting more than 184,000 participants from 164 countries, with over 1,800 speakers, including 40 ministers and 200 senior executives from across the globe.
