Algiers: The Algeria Declaration, resulting from the 38th Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union (AIPU) conference, has emphasized the centrality of the Palestinian issue and expressed unwavering support for the Palestinian people. Issued at the conclusion of the conference, the Declaration called upon the international community to abandon its silence, which has allowed Israeli occupation forces to continue committing crimes without repercussions.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the Declaration highlighted that despite the complex international and regional circumstances, along with the challenges and crises facing the Arab region, the Palestinian issue remains the core conflict driving these struggles. The Declaration urged all Arab lawmakers to take responsibility in meeting the aspirations and hopes of their nations.
The parliamentarians expressed their resolve to activate parliamentary diplomacy as a positive force in their countries' official diplomacy, aiming to turn their nations' aspirations into reality. The Declaration commended the unwavering stance of Arab countries and organizations against the relocation of Palestinians from their land.
The document also warned of the dangers posed by "Zionist" provocations targeting the legal and historical status of Jerusalem and its sanctities. It called for an urgent international response to confront these violations and protect the sanctities in Palestine, in accordance with resolutions of international legitimacy.
Furthermore, the Declaration condemned the Israeli occupation forces' prohibition of the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) from operating in Palestinian territories. This action hinders the delivery of humanitarian aid to Palestinians, underscoring the essential role of UNRWA.
The Declaration also called for an end to the collective displacement project in the besieged Gaza Strip and the unification of efforts to amplify the Palestinian voice and alleviate their suffering. Additionally, it reaffirmed full support for Lebanon to reclaim its rights and sovereignty over its land.
It further emphasized adherence to the 2002 Arab Peace Initiative, advocating for a fair and comprehensive peace as a strategic option to end Israeli occupation of all Arab territories in Palestine, Syria, and Lebanon. The document stressed the importance of reforming the UN system through enhanced parliamentary diplomacy.
Finally, the Declaration categorically rejected all forms of foreign interference in the domestic affairs of Arab countries, regardless of the pretext.
