BEIRUT: Lebanese ministry of health declared on Thursday that 23 people died and more than ten others were wounded in the latest wave of Israeli occupation air strikes on eastern towns. The ministry reported that the air strikes targeted Niha and Brital in the greater Baalbek region, resulting in ten fatalities. Similar attacks on Falawi, Amshaki, and Meqne, also around Baalbek, claimed twelve lives and left at least five injured. According to Kuwait News Agency, the violence extended to the south with an air strike on Tair Debba in the Tyre region, killing one person and injuring two others. The official National News Agency highlighted further air strikes on the southern suburbs of Beirut, once a densely-populated area, causing significant damage though no injuries were reported. The death toll for the day in Lebanon rose to 31 with the incidents in the east. Earlier reports from the ministry of health indicated that occupation attacks elsewhere in the country had already resulted in eight deaths and numerous injuries. The ministry further detailed an attack on Al-Shaytiah in the south, which led to three deaths and five injuries, with a caution that these figures were preliminary. A similar assault on Maarakeh in the greater Tyre region resulted in 13 deaths and 44 injuries. The casualty numbers might increase as rescue efforts continue amid the rubble. Meanwhile, the National News Agency reported an air raid on Yonin in eastern Baalbek, where four people died, along with other attacks on villages in both the east and south. Lebanon has been under intense attacks by the Israeli occupation since September 23.
