Tehran: Irans Health Minister Mohammad-Reza Zafarghandi said on Wednesday that 18 people were killed and 108 others wounded in overnight strikes by the United States against the country, according to a statement published on the website of the Iranian president's office, reported Xinhua.
According to Nam News Network, in a separate statement, Iran's Foreign Ministry condemned in the strongest terms the latest US "acts of aggression" against the country, highlighting Iran's determination to "decisively" defend its independence, national sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
The statement emphasized that the US government on Tuesday night once again violated Iran's national sovereignty and territorial integrity by attacking several civilian locations and service infrastructure, resulting in casualties among Iranian citizens and damage to both public and private properties.
Earlier on Wednesday, US Central Command announced on X that its forces had "successfully completed a wave of strikes against Iranian military targets," in response to "recent attempted attacks by the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps against commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and against American service members."
Following the US strikes, Iran retaliated by attacking US bases and assets located in Jordan, Kuwait, Bahrain, Iraq's semi-autonomous Kurdistan region, and the United Arab Emirates.
