Kuwait City: The Supreme Committee on Kuwaiti citizenship announced on Thursday the decision to strip 1292 individuals of their Kuwaiti citizenship, with the matter now referred to the cabinet for further action.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the decision was made during a meeting chaired by First Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Fahad Yusuf Saud Al-Sabah. The Interior Ministry revealed that eight individuals lost their citizenship under articles 10 and 11 of the citizenship law due to holding dual citizenship. Additionally, 189 individuals had their article 21 bis A citizenship revoked due to forgery, fraud, and obtaining the document through false affiliation.
The committee also stripped 73 individuals of their article 13 citizenship, initially granted for their valuable services, due to forgery and fraud. Another 967 individuals with article 13 citizenship lost their status due to considerations of the country's higher interest.
An individual was also stripped of their article 14 citizenship due to a breach of allegiance to the country. Furthermore, 50 individuals from the 1965 census and four under article 8 saw their article 13 citizenship revoked, again due to the country's higher interest.
